Brickwalls

One of the common brickwalls is the missing county ... you know that your ancestors were Irish but don't know in which part of Ireland they may have lived. If you're able to establish the county then the townland is another common stumbling block. The Irish Genealogy Toolkit suggests a thorough search of the records in the country to which your ancestors emigrated. If your ancestor had a number of siblings there's a chance that at least one kept records of family births, marriages and deaths ... not every member of a family does this but in many families you'll find that one of them kept records .. my guess is that one of the women kept such records. http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/ ... estry.html
